LENTEN
PROGRAM:
This year St. John’s will again join the East of the River parishes in a
joint Lenten Program entitled, “Yay, I Choose This!” The program will involve conversation around
the Five Baptismal Promises (Book of Common Prayer, pp. 304-305). The evenings
will run from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday from 29 February – 28 March.
Each evening will begin with a Soup Supper, followed by the program. In addition to the regular program, we will
be participating in two joint services during Holy Week:
Wednesday, 4
April - Tenebrae
at
St. James’, Glastonbury
Saturday, 7
April - Easter Vigil at St. Mary’s,
Manchester
with Bishop James Curry
These two services will be in place of our
usual services at St. John’s on those days.
PAULINE’S STOCK POT KITCHEN:
Our next scheduled dinner is February, Friday the 10th and Friday
the 24th. Please let Linda or Jack know
if you would like to help on either date.

SAFE CHURCH RECERTIFICATION: Everyone required to have Safe Church
Recertification at St. John's is overdue to have it. Spring dates and
locations for recertification are:

SOCIAL EVENTS: The
Jolly Beggars Celtic Folk Concert at Wood Memorial Library on Sunday, 11
March at 2:00pm (optional dinner at Union Tavern following the concert). Tickets are $5. Reservations
MUST be in before 22 January.

“EAST
OF THE RIVER GANG” HYMN SING & SOUP SUPPER: Come join in the fun THIS SATURDAY, 11 February from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. as St. John’s,
East Windsor hosts a “Hymn Sing” for the East of the River parishes. St. John’s is providing soup and bread and
the other parishes are bringing salads and desserts. Everyone should bring their voices! If you would like to prepare a soup please
see Jan Grace (860-627-5500). Please
sign up in the narthex or parish hall, or call the office (860-623-3273) and
come and be a part of this great event.
Greet & Grill
for “new” and “slightly used” parishioners
Sunday, 12 February, 12:15 – 2:00 p.m.
New and “Newer”
parishioners at St. John’s are cordially invited to our “Greet &
Grill.” Join us on NEXT Sunday,
12 February from 12:15 - 2:00 p.m. to learn more about St. John’s and share in
a picnic lunch. Please sign up in the narthex of the Church
or parish hall of you plan to attend, so we know how many to prepare for. Fear not, the only thing that will
be grilled are the burgers and Vestry members! It is an opportunity to
dine and learn more about the parish and it’s ministry! We hope many of
our newer parishioners will be on hand for an afternoon of information and
fellowship.
SHROVE TUESDAY SPAGHETTI DINNER

Proceeds will be used to build a house

Food for the Poor

is a great way to raise money for a good cause and introduce someone to St.
John’s, so please bring a friend!
KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS: We will meet today in the parish hall after
the 10:15 service. Bring what you are working on and I will bring some more
patterns. For those wishing to donate yarn to us, we use WASHABLE
worsted-weight yarn. New members are
